Why The Swansea Way?

February 2013. I'd recently had to stop playing local league football due to a selection of gammy body parts, and suddenly I had a lot more time to devote to Swansea City FC.

I've always been a fan of the Swans, and was introduced to them by my next door neighbour Brian at the age of 10. My teenage years were spent as a season-ticket holder on the North Bank, and I still mourn the loss of the Vetch like the loss of an old friend. I appreciate that sacrifices have to be made in the name of progress, however I do enjoy a bit of nostalgia, as you'll notice throughout my blogs. I actually managed to blag doing my "work experience" at the Vetch ostensibly as a groundsman, however it seemed we spent a large portion of our time doing anything but maintaining the pitch.

In a previous life I was a diving instructor in Ibiza. I
currently work in a call centre. Don't ask how that happened
One job was to take old wooden sponsor boards and turn them into paneling under [what I always assumed was] the little tv gantry/office in the top corner of the East Stand - which was actually quite good in that I got to have a wander around above the West Terrace - all of the old stairwells and the upper concourse still existed despite the removal of the top half of the stand, and it felt a privilege to be wandering around an area of the ground that a lot of people my age didn't know existed, let alone had the chance to see.

I aim to write daily (where possible!) about the Swans from the point of view of a long term Swansea City fan. Sure, I'll have opinions that not everyone agrees with, but that's the beauty of it. Please, post feedback after you've read the blogs as it's always good to hear other people's points of view. If the blog creates debate amongst Swansea fans then this can surely only be a good thing.

I aim to bring you any major news which affects Swansea City, along with considered opinion on it, as well as pieces on ex-Swansea City players, in depth profiles of transfer targets, match previews & reports, and anything else which seems relevant at the time! Over time I aim to develop the site to include a forum, photo gallery and more, so keep checking back for the latest news and developments.
